5 Ways to Work with Kids at Home
A business woman who also happens to have a family, has to work at juggling change all the time.
Change is a natural part of life, but – it’s not always something we are prepared to handle. Being a working mother for many years, here are 5 ways to keep doing business as usual at home without reliable childcare.
Find Your Inner Peace in the Midst of Storms
It’s important first and foremost to identify what calms you. Realize that quick decisions aren’t necessary, but a plan for giving yourself the space and peace to make the right decision is best.
Have a Go-To for Time Management Disasters
My go-to is my desk calendar. It has to be written on, drawn on, highlighted. Then I try to see if that one thing to get accomplished is prioritized in one of my priority buckets:
- Have to do now
- Can wait 24 Hours
- Needs some investigation
- Have to say No
No is my Final Answer
Sometimes we find we are doing way too much trying to juggle kids at home, people please, and build our business. We all want to expand and promote our businesses, but the truth is – it takes time. There are times you have to put aside business ventures, personal events, and more in order to keep your sanity and to be successful at your current endeavors.
Keep Your Emotions in Check
This can be hard, but the best way to do this is to put your perfectionist tendencies and focus on the places where you can successfully see the results. Like in your business. When it comes to management of the household, kids and family, be yourself, don’t try to be perfect, but fulfill their needs with love and relationship building.
Planning is essential
Set the same day every week to plan your week. Get everyone involved in the planning of the week ahead and share the information on both an electronic calendar with alerts and alarms and the at home calendar. Make that the first stop of the day and set alarms to remind you of the time restrictions on any activities or task.
